Trolls are creatures appearing in the 2010 film Troll Hunter. They are a large carnivorous mammal species currently known to survive in remote areas in Norway. There are two main types of trolls, woodland trolls (Skogstroll) and mountain trolls (Bergstroll), and there are several subspecies like the Tusseladd, Raglefant, Dovregubben and Jotnar.
Biology
Trolls are bipedal human-like mammals varying in size and shapes. These creatures could be a new kind of gigantic primate or hominid. A troll can live up to 1,000 to 1,200 years, according to Hans.
Weakness to vitamin D
Trolls can be killed with UV lights or sunlight due to their incapacity of converting light into vitamin D. Due to this, the younger ones will explode or crack while the older ones turn to stone.
Danger to humans
Due to their predatory and violent nature, trolls pose a formidable threat to humans who might accidentally step into a troll territory and get killed, and this is the reason the Troll Security Service was founded. The goal of this organisation is to keep trolls away from human populated areas and avoid conflict.
Containment
Due to the trolls' dangerous nature, the TSS made sure to keep the animals contained within a specific area surrounded by electricity pylons, since trolls don't like electricity. If a troll happens to escape from their containment, it is the troll hunter's job to find and kill the troll and investigate how and why the troll escaped and to get an overview of the situation.
